Devil's Dance #1: The Greatest Swerve all time, all our lives…

Reported on Saturday, July 14 2007

FWO Summer 2003- Veteran of CSWA Craig Miles shows up with Bandit, Pi and Shamon (currently in hiding somewhere not far from Bahrain…) with the M.I.A…

With this appearance began the biggest bait and switch in this sport since the night after Starrcade 98 as two men manipulated no less than 4 companies to achieve their Professional peak… but in order to figure out the method behind the madness we must venture back to the UWA during the mid 90’s.

The kidnapping of Avery Everette and subsequent presumed death led in two of the major players being brought to the fold in Anne Mystic and Tom Adler as their relationship behind the scenes led many people to believe that the Diamond Corporation was behind the events that transpired however they did not count on Mystic’s first disappearance upon Avery’s return in which Mystic was found in prison and was bailed by no other than Adler himself…

Meanwhile Craig Miles had begun to make waves in the UWA both during the closing and reopening by Quentin Sullivan who had become the second in command during Avery’s return, Miles however had a greater vision, a company which would show the brightest new talent mixed with few veterans such as the recently retired Michael Manson, that company being NFW.

NFW’s formation over it’s first few years was shaky with incidents such as Manson being crippled for a period of time at their first Wargames match as well as being banned from Baltimore due to fire regulations, the fed was presumed to have been closed due to FBI investigating possible Mafia connections but in 2003 came back with a new concept, that concept being the until recently regular format of the Ultratitle.

Outside of NFW however Craig had begun teaming with Eddie Mayfield in the PRO tag team seen in GXW and CSWA until the aftermath of one CSWA show in which Miles was left hospitalized, Miles then showed up in FWO leading us back to the beginning of the tale…

October 2003 was the dawning of a new tag team in the FWO, the team of Miles and Deacon collectively known as Lost and Found began to make an impact on the national scene however Miles had what we believed at the time to be a dark secret as sometime in-between Craig’s exit from the CSWA, through being fired by Chad Merritt, his wife was kidnapped by her father a leader of a cult being a offshoot of Damien Xeno. (This has been pieced together through the accounts of Grant Mitchell ‘Silver Fox’ and Chris Shepherd through recent shoot interviews)

Feb 2004 was a month of changes both for NFW and FWO, the All-Star Week led to many of the original roster leaving for extended periods of time due to an explosion occurring during the East V West Wargames match orchestrated by Avery Prosser (an veteran of the UWA holding a grudge over Quentin Sullivan over the closure in 97) and the Seven Deadly Sins (around this time an e-mail circulated amongst the dirtsheets (and recently recovered by yours truly…) of an message to Ivy McGinnis containing the words ‘lost my mind for Seven Days Straight’ whether this was a warning by a certain cocky individual of what was about to occur we do not know…).

In the FWO the team of Lost and Found was splintered due to growing tension over the Internet title and in April the turn was complete as Miles betrayed Deacon and challenged him to a match at Cyberslam : Submit or Surrender, this led to Deacon causing Miles to be put into a medical facility for the second time in his career possibly finished with his career…

Mayfield however throughout this period was having a reign as presidential champion of the CSWA and thriving as a singles star but this also began to fall with a loss to Jay Phoenix and so began his chance to create a buzz somewhere else…

Next column will focus on the end of 2004 in which the paths began to diverge as a soldier’s quest against a major player of entertainment conflicts with the truth of the kidnapping…
